My husband and I just rented two mopeds from Kauai Mopeds. They delivered them to our condo at Pale Ke Kua, then came to pick them up when we were done. The price was very reasonable, and we had so much fun experiencing the north part of the island by moped. I highly recommend this "activity" to everyone. Customer service was outstanding! ~ Brit H. Rus and Tracy took great care of my wife and I. They dropped off our mopeds at our condo and picked them up the next morning from the airport when we went out for an aerial tour of Kauai. They gave us a quick lesson before leaving to make sure we were confident on the mopeds. We had a blast heading up to the north shore for some beach time. Thanks for your excellent service, Rus and Tracy! Sorry for forgetting the map! We'll make good use of it on our next trip to Kauai! ~ Joel P. Lynden, WA

Rus is a freaking genius when it comes to fixing these Honda/SYM Scooters. Mine wouldn't hardly move this morning and I pushed it uphill to his house praying he would be able to fix it fearing the worst (Blown Engine) I did not want to walk/coast 12 miles home. He was beyond fair with prices, taught me A LOT, and is a very cool dude to boot. Barely spent a $100 and I looked online he was as cheap or cheaper than Ebay with install! I have never rented from him but I have other places. They have junk. Chinese crap, I broke two in 1 day just riding, LISTEN, Go and SEE RUS when you visit Kauai!!! Carl W. Lihue, HI

Rus and Tracy are the most pleasant and helpful people on the island! We called a couple of days before for 5 mopeds and two days later, they delieved them to our hotel doorstep. After a quick inspection of the mopeds, a little paperwork signed and giving us helmets to wear, we were on our way. We drove those mopdes about 120 miles - from Poipu to the very northern most end of the island (where the road ends). We stopped to take pictures, look at beautiful scenery, have some shave ice and a little lunch. I was a completely memorable day and one that my 19, 20 and 21 year olds will never forget. Thank you Rus and Tracy for your kindness and generosity! Mahalo!! Debbie B. Lake Forest, CA

Best service and cheapest rentals on the island. I was visiting Kauai for 3 days, and rented from Kauai Mopeds, For only $150 I rented a moped for 3 full days. Best idea to have go see what you want, when you want, and great service. They dropped off the moped at the airport for me and even picked it up wherever you want. I highly recommend this company...there website is http://kauai-mopeds.com...dont use the other guy that shows up on google..he was really creepy and his prices are higher.. I was staying in Kapaa and drove all the way to the Na Pali Coast and Poipu. Excellent customer service and affordable. Chris D. Wantagh, NY

Scooter? Moped? What’s the difference?

Mopeds are commonly referred to as scooters.  However, these two  vehicles are classified and regulated very differently.  There are four main differences between a moped and scooter:  classification, requirements, vehicle speed, and carrying capacity.

About Us

When people first see our two-wheeled rentals, they commonly refer to both type of vehicles as “scooters.”  One being just a little larger than the other.  However, they are entirely different.  Mopeds are 49cc vehicles and one only person is allowed on the moped.  You only need a valid drivers license and be at least 18 years old to operate.  So the thing you see everyone  zipping around on is most likely a moped, not a scooter.  A scooter is entirely different, they are classified as a motorcycle and you may seat two people.  A motorcycle license is required and you must be at least 21 years old to rent a scooter.
